커뮤니케이션디자인기초는 디자인 전공 입문자로서 반드시 이해해야 할 시각 언어, 조형 원리, 정보 전달 구조를 학습하는 과목이다. 학생들은 형태·색채·레이아웃 등 시각 요소의 기능과 의미를 분석하며, 관찰–발상–기획–표현으로 이어지는 디자인 프로세스를 경험한다. 더불어 비평과 토론을 통해 시각적 판단 기준을 형성하고, 다양한 매체로 확장 가능한 디자인 사고력을 구축하여 이후의 전공 심화 과목에 필요한 기초 역량을 갖춘다.

“Introduction to Communication Design” provides first-year students with the foundational understanding of visual language, design principles, and information structure. Through exercises in observation, ideation, planning, and visual execution, students develop essential creative and analytical skills needed for design practice. The course introduces core elements such as form, color, and layout, and encourages critique-based learning to build visual literacy and conceptual clarity. This foundation prepares students for advanced coursework in branding, editorial design, UX/UI, and other communication design fields.
